Roxas City (6 May) -- The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) Capiz Chapter will put up an assistance desk in voting centers on May 10 to help address voters? problems and concerns with concerned authorities.
Monsignor Vicente Hilata, Capiz Archdiocese Vicar General and PPCRV ? Capiz Chapter Chairman said the Council will be fielding about 3,000 registered volunteers as precinct poll watchers, prayer brigade members and voters assistance desk staff, among others.
Additionally, the church-based poll watchdog will be fielding Social Witnesses Attesting Truth (SWAT) teams to oversee specific areas of concern, such as communications, logistics, documentation and roving patrols.
"Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion will serve as the control center of the PPCRV operation," Hilata noted.
The PPCRV volunteers will also be vigilant to attempts by some politicians to slow down voting on May 10 by having their supporters deliberately loiter inside polling precincts.
PPCRV has been working assiduously for Clean,Honest, Accurate, Meaningful and Peaceful (CHAMP) elections since its establishment in 1991. (PIA) [top]
