PTA gives P10 million for Lasang Adventure Project

by Janinah Jimmin M. Molina

Cagayan de Oro City (6 May) -- The Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) recently handed down financial assistance in the amount of P10 million for the Lasang Secret Adventure Project.

"We are so happy to give this check in the amount of P10 million pesos for the full release of financial assistance for the construction of Lasang Secret Adventure located at Initao National Park of Misamis Oriental," Cerelina Chan, Resident Manager of Gardens of Malasag said.

Meanwhile, Governor Oscar Moreno of Misamis Oriental stated, "As far as the province is concerned, we have spent around P7.6 million for the development and the P10 million will be used to augment the funding requirement for the major components of the project."

He also stressed that at least P40 million is needed for achieving the project.

In relation to the features of the ongoing project, Governor Moreno expounded that the plan includes the creation of a restaurant, PC center, conference area, lodging rooms and other facilities.

"Basically, it's a complete complex in the Lasang area. We expect to finish the project by this year, 2010. Our target is to have the major phase completed before June 30," he added.

He commended the PTA by saying that the financial aid is a big boost for the province's efforts in completing the project.

"Tourism is one of the key movers of the economy," he said.

Regarding speculations on the financial aid expenditure, Governor Moreno clarified, "The money will not be spent during or before the elections."

He explained further that there will be no releases nor disbursements during the political period and that, under the agreement, the money will be put in a trust account.

Tourism Consultant Dorothy Jean Pabayo and Joy Sison, Division Head of PTA's Physical Planning Department were also present during the turnover ceremony. (XU DevCom / PIA) [top]
