Supply of electricity assured in Antique

San Jose, Antique (7 May) -- The Antique Electric Cooperative Inc., gave their assurance that there will be uninterrupted supply of electricity come May 2010 National and Local election.

The cooperative being one of the institution tasked by the Commission on Election to provide power on polling precincts and voting centers have already made their contingency plans to ensure that the electric distribution system and facilities will be fully operational to provide continuous supply of power before and during the event.

Electricians were authorized by ANTECO to conduct visual inspection of electrical wiring and installations of the school building and classrooms that will be utilized as polling precincts, conduct repair and coordinate with school representatives for appropriate action on their findings.

As part of ensuring the security of vital facilities, the Coop had requested assistance from the Philippine National Police to appoint at least one PNP personnel for the four sub-station facilities of ANTECO from the eve of election 'til the end of it.

In the event of power supply deficiency from the generating companies during the election, manual load shedding or rotating brown-outs will be enforced, however, barangays with identified precincts will be least prioritized from load curtailment. Aside from that, the Management of ANTECO also assigned personnel and standby linemen on each town as the official coordinator to be informed in case of power interruption. (ANTECO/PIA) [top]
