Cagayan de Oro City (7 May) -- In a scheme that poll administrators would not look as political supporters, they should wear white shirts during May 10 elections, said Department of Education Regional Director Luz S. Almeda.
"We will issue a memo that if possible we will wear white," Director Almeda told this to the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) of region 10 during the Pledge of Commitment for Clean Elections, May 7, 2010.
"The election task force should not wear colored shirts so that there will be no suspicion on the part of the supporters or candidates themselves that we are pro or against anyone," the director said clarifying the DepEd's order.
This is an exercise the DepEd's not to engage in any partisan politics especially during the conduct of election, except just voting.
"We guarantee that we are not partisans and not leaning on somebody else," she said.
"White after all is a color of peace and unity; just to play safe," she added.
DepEd, in cooperation with Commission on Election, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and Philippine Information Agency, is readying full force to ensure honest, orderly and peaceful elections, as they will once again head the whole operations of this automated May 10 polls.
