PCOS machine delivery in Davao nearly complete

By Mai Gevera

Davao City (7 May) -- About 1,172 Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines have been distributed to the various polling centers located in different public schools around Davao City.

Fifty-three PCOS machines have already been transferred from Diamond Warehouse where these machines were delivered after shipment to the different clustered precincts in Marilog District.

This is the first batch of PCOS machine delivery for the city after the delivery of machines to nearby provinces in Region XI done earlier this week.

For Davao, there are about 63 contingency machines delivered serving as back-up. Along with it are ballot boxes with cover, batteries, BGAN units, and back-up batteries.

Third district Comelec election officer Usman Abas Jr. said that the delivery of PCOS to polling areas started yesterday afternoon and is expected to continue today until all other districts be served.

Smartmatic regional coordinator Jerry Flores bared that the team removed the compact flash cards inserted in the machines until early morning yesterday.

The team expected the arrival of the re-configured CF cards last night, to be distributed to the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) after the final testing of the PCOS machine.

Flores was told that the target day for final testing of the machines is on May 8. (PIA XI) [top]
