Tacloban City (May 7) -- The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters ng Pilipinas (KBP) will conduct a nationwide count of the 4th copy of the Election Returns, Reverend Father Isagani Petilos, the vice chairman of the PPCRV in Region 8 informed.

The PPCRV is the Comelec-accredited citizen's arm that has been granted the right to the 4th Copy of the ERs, Father Petilos told the local media during the Harampang Ha PIA held at Gerry's Grill Tacloban on May 6.

The 4th copy of the election returns is data that the PCOS machine will print out right after the counting of votes at the end of voting on 10 May 2010, prior to transmission.

The 4th copy is the only one among the 8 copies of Election Returns printed by the PCOS before transmission whose beneficiary is a non-partisan NGO. PPCRV is a Church-based group organized in 1991 and a veteran of 22 past electoral exercises.

The PPCRV will only count the votes of the national officials from the President, Vice President, Senators, Party List Representatives, Representatives of the various congressional districts, the governors, vice-governors and members of the provincial board, Fr. Petilos bared.

Reverend Father Petilos disclosed that once the Regional PPCRV have received the 4th Copy, the instruction is for it to immediately send the same to the National PPCRV through Air 21 and Mail and More, both major sponsors of the PPCRV-KBP Count.

The PPCRV is committed to make available to the public this 4th copy through a transparent nationwide unofficial parallel tally. It has partnered with the Kapisanan ng Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, with the PPCRV having 86 diocesan chapters, about 3,000 parish units and close to one million volunteers nationwide while the KBP with its large network of about 700 radio and television networks and media practitioners.
