68% of Eastern Visayas election returns transmitted to Comelec Manila evening of May 10

Tacloban City (May 11) -- About sixty-eight percent of the election returns in Eastern Visayas have been transmitted to Comelec Manila in the evening of May 10, Comelec Region 8 Director Jose Nick Mendros informed.

Seven municipalities in Leyte have already proclaimed their winning candidates. These are the municipalities of Tolosa, Hilongos, Sta. Fe, Tunga, Merida, Barugo and Mayorga.

In Samar, the Municipalities of Calbiga and Marabut have proclaimed their municipal winners while in Biliran, only the town of Maripipi has already proclaimed the winners.

In Southern Leyte, only the town of Anahawan has already proclaimed its winning candidates while Northern Samar's Lavezares town is the first to proclaim its winning candidates.

No municipality in Eastern Samar has proclaimed its winning candidate as of the interview.

Meanwhile, in the province of Leyte, there are four municipalities which have precincts with defective CF cards. These include two precincts in Burauen, 2 precincts in Tacloban, 1 in Albuera and 1 in Kananga.

Director Mendros expressed hope that all the election returns in Eastern Visayas will be transmitted as soon as possible.

In fact, as the interview goes on, many other municipalities and cities have already transmitted their election results, Director Mendros said.

The Comelec Director expressed his appreciation to its partners in ensuring a peaceful and orderly elections in Eastern Visayas: the PPCRV in the Region headed by His Excellency Archbishop of Palo Jose S. Palma, the Philippine National Police Region 8 led by Director Rey Lanada and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the Region led by Major General Arthur Tabaquero. (PIA 8) [top]
