Gov. Raul Daza wins as congressman of 1st district of Northern Samar

Catarman, Northern Samar (13 May) -- Governor Raul A. Daza won as the congressman of the 1st district of Northern Samar over his rival Senior Board Member Fransico Rosales, Jr. with a margin of 27,064 votes.
Daza was the first that was proclaimed in the province by the provincial board of canvassers even if the three municipalities of San Vicente, Lope de Vega and Bobon were not yet transmitted to the provincial board because the number of voters in the 3 municipalities will not affect the partial report.
Daza, was the former congressman of the first district and deputy speaker of theHouse of Representatives and a three termer provincial governor. Daza garnered 69,573 while Rosales got only 42,509.
During the proclamation, Daza was very thankful for the trust and confidence given to him by the people for his landslide victory. Daza was proclaimed by the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) led by Provincial Election Supervisor, Atty. Andrew Bido, Provincial Fiscal, Atty. Romeo Ebdane and the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Thelma Quitalig. The proclamation was attended by his wife, Mrs. Teresita Daza, his son congressman Paul Daza, now the leading candidate for the gubernatorial race and Gigi Daza, the wife of Congresman Paul Daza and his supporters.
Meanwhile, the leading candidate for the 2nd district of the province is Congressman Emil Ong. For the provincial board for the first district, the leading candidates are Jose Layon, Lazaro Ballesta, Teodoro Jumamil, Bida Bogtong and Alberto Mendador. For the second district, the leading candidates are Marites Gillamac, Ricardo Daiz, Albert Lucero, Dionisio Galit and Eustaquio Lagrimas. (PIA Northern Samar) [top]
