Abrenios thank augmentation forces

by Maritess B. Beñas

Bangued, Abra (15 May) -- The people here thanked the members of the augmentation forces from the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police who were sent to Abra for the May 10, 2010 elections.

The company-size augmentation forces from the army were sent by Lt. Gen. Ricardo David, Commanding Officer of the Northern Luzon Command on May 6. Cordillera Police Regional Director PCSupt. Villamor Bumanglag also dispatched 60 officers and men from the Cordillera Regional Police Forces to Abra.

The augmentation forces were fielded to neutralize the peace and security condition in the hotspot areas in the province.

Provincial Election Supervisor, Atty. Vanessa M. Roncal thanked the members of the augmentation forces for their all-out support that played a major role in the successful conduct of the elections in the province.

Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin also expressed gratefulness for the presence of the augmentation forces for a peaceful, clean and credible conduct of elections in the province. In return he gave his pabaon to the soldiers as a token of gratitude and moral support as they travel back to their respective stations after accomplishing their mission.

The PNP contingents were sent back to their official stations on Thursday after they were released by OIC Provincial Director Joseph C. Adnol at the Abra Provincial Headquarters in Camp Juan Villamor.

Col. Essel Soriano of the 503rd Infantry Brigade gave his assurance though, that even without the augmentation forces in Abra after the elections, his troops will continue to lend support to the peace-keeping forces and the people of Abra for the upkeep of peace and security in the province so that the government can continue its mission of working for the development.
