1st Army rescue Olympics in Western Visayas starts May 18
Iloilo City (17 May) -- The 1st Army Rescue Olympics in Western Visayas will be held May 18-19 at Camp Adriano Hernandez in Dingle, Iloilo.
The activity was initiated by the 6-Regional Community Defense Group (6RCDG) of the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) together with the Office of the Civil Defense and Regional Disaster Coordinating Council VI to test and enhance the readiness of ARESCOM's units in the region to respond in times of disasters and emergencies.
OCD Regional Director and RDCC Vice Chairperson Rosario T. Cabrera said the activity is also being coordinated with the Disaster Coordinating Councils of Iloilo province and the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod, Philippine National Red Cross, and Negros Rescue Federation.
National Defense Secretary and National Disaster Coordinating Council Chairman Norberto Gonzales will be the guest of honor and speaker at tomorrow's opening program.
Cabrera said the activity will be participated in by various units and teams of the Philippine Army based at Camp Hernandez and one unit from the Headquarters of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division based at Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz. (PIA 6) [top]
