NSO-2 conducts 2010 census of population and housing

Tuguegarao City (17 May) -- The National Statistics Office (NSO) Region 2 has started the conduct of 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) that aims to provide government planners, policy makers, and administrators with data on which to base their social and economic plans and programs.
Regional Director Anabelle Langabayan said this year?s census entails the listing and recording of the characteristics of each individual and each living quarter as of a specified time and within specified territory.
She also stated that it is designed to take an inventory of the total population and housing units in the Philippines and to collect information about their characteristics.
Langbayan specified that the census intends to gather data on birth registration, literacy, school attendance, place of school, educational attainment, residence 5 year ago, overseas worker, usual occupation, kind of business, class of worker, place of work, fertility, religion, citizenship, ethnic group, disability, functional difficulty, and determine their geographic distribution.
"Our enumerators are teachers from Department of Education pursuant to Batas Pambansa 72 specifying that public school teachers shall be utilize for the 2010 CPH", Langbayan said.
The census begun today, May 17, 20007, and will last for about 23 days but the over-all and final result will be determined next year. (PIA 2) [top]
