Oplan Kandado Roadshow rolls on in Negros
Negros Occidental (19 May) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue, Revenue Region No. 12, Bacolod City, is conducting a series of comprehensive tax information campaign known as the ?Roadshow on OPLAN KANDADO? in the four (4) revenue districts.
The first leg of the roadshow started with Revenue District 77, the prime district of Bacolod City headed by Revenue District Officer Lilivic M. Gatdula.
During the first series held at the BIR Regional Office, 4/F PNB Building, Bacolod City, on May 17, 2010, resource speaker Atty. Nenette G. Epon, OIC-Chief of the Legal Division, discussed the guidelines in the conduct of the surveillance and stock-taking activities and the implementation of the administrative sanctions on the suspension and temporary closure of the erring business establishment under Revenue Memorandum Order No. 3-2009.
Grounds for temporary closure are failure to issue receipts, failure to file VAT returns, failure to register, and understatement of taxable sale by 30%.
BIR Regional Director Araceli L. Francisco enjoined all VAT taxpayers in Revenue Region No. 12 to declare and pay the correct amount of taxes, particularly their VAT dues for April 2010.
Francisco stressed to the owners of business establishments the importance of improving their VAT compliance to avoid being subjected to OPLAN KANDADO and the Run After Tax Evaders (RATE).
The next series of the roadshow to be attended by VAT taxpayers are scheduled on May 18, 20, and 21, 2010 in Sagay City under the jurisdiction of Revenue District No. 76 headed by Revenue District Officer Atty. Cynthia T. Cabuguas, and in Revenue District No. 79, Dumaguete City, headed by Revenue District Officer Cresencio A. Agad.
