BEIs get election pay this week

By Venus H. Sarmiento

Dagupan City (20 May) -- The Department of Education supervisors and teaching force who served as Board of Election Inspectors during the recent polls will finally get paid.

Provincial Election supervisor Reddy Balarbar said the P4,300 honorarium of BEIs have already been deposited in the ATM accounts of the election officers.

The pay was itemized as follows: three- day election duty at P1,000 per day, inspection fee at P500, final testing fee at P500 and transportation allowance of P300, a total of P4,300.

DepEd Supervisors received P3,000 and their monitoring staff were paid P1,500.00. Support staff of BEIs, however, will be paid next week, Balarbar said.

On propositions to increase the BEIs? honorarium, Balarbar said he favored increasing the pay of those whose precincts had defective flash cards as these officials rendered election duties for 4-5 days.

Balarbar said technicians from Smartmatic also received allowances aside from their salaries.(PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
