Census on population, housing starts in Capiz

Roxas City (21 May) -- A total of 639 personnel hired by the National Statistics Office have already started the 2010 census of population and housing in Capiz.
According to NSO Provincial Statistics Officer Engineer Frankie Dordas the nationwide survey had already started last May 17 and will end on June 11.
He said that it will be conducted by 485 enumerators, 385 of whom are public school teachers while the remaining 100 are non-teachers who are hired by their office.
Dordas said that there are also 28 census area supervisors (CAS), 28 assistant census area supervisors (ACAS) and 98 team supervisors who will do the work in Capiz
He stressed that said personnel are now working in their respective assigned areas in the province of here, particularly in the 16 towns and one city.
For a smooth conduct of census, Capiz has been divided into three districts, namely districts I, II, and III, he said, adding that District I covers the areas of Roxas City and the towns of Ivisan, Panay and Sapian with 154 enumerators, 31n team supervisors, 7 CAS and 7 ACAS
He said that District II covers the towns of Pontevedra, Maayon, Panitan, Pilar and President Roxas with 130 enumerators, 27 team, supervisors, 9 CAS and 9 ACAS.
On the other hand, 201 enumerators, 40 team supervisors, 12 CAS and 12 ACAS have been assigned to cover the towns of Sigma, Cuartero, Dao, Dumalag, Dumarao, Jamindan, Mambusao and Tapaz which are included in District III, Dordas revealed.
The 2010 census of population and housing is a nationwide undertaking of the NSO which aims to provide government planners, policy makers and administrators with data on which to base their social and economic development plans and programs. (PIA) [top]
