Comval ends 3rd summmer sports festival 2010
Compostela Valley (24 May) -- The 3rd week-long summer sports festival for 2010 here ends today with active participation by the 11 municipalities of Compostela Valley. The festival opened last May 19.
The program opening was graced by Governor Arturo T. Uy. Provincial Administrator Virgilia S. Allones. Provincial Sports Coordinator Isabelo Melendres, Tournament Director Hemogenes Maning, Nabunturan Mayor Macario T. Humol, Compostela Mayor-elect Jessie Bolo, BM Neri Barte, BM Jun Blanco, Senior Board Member and Congresswoman elect Maricar Zamora-Apsay, Dep-Ed Sports Coordinator Ruben Refonte.
Delegates from different Municipalities were accompanied by their respective Municipal Sports Coordinators.
After the opening program, motorcade follows after which game proper started. Events/games played and competed were basketball, volleyball, football, boxing, table tennis and chess. Basketball elimination round for district 1 was played in Monkayo and in Mawab for district 2. Maragusan champions volleyball men and Compostela for volleyball women. Montevista Football Club bets all football players and Maco football club for players under 15 years OLD.
The challenging game for Basketball 18 years old under won by Compostela and Mawab for 13 years under. The champion for table tennis open category was Peter James Polinar of New Bataan.
The battle of chess wizard female, and adult category were championed by Rowelyn Joy Acedo of Monkayo (female), Jason Jay Gurang of Mawab (Male) and Jan Mar Hondonero of Nabunturan (Adult). Boxing enthusiast from 11 Municipalities also showdown their best punch which was also won by Compostela.
Inspired by the theme "Sports makes Ones Mind and Spirit Strong and Active", the week long summer sports festival was indeed a very successful activity. "This activity serves as the venue for all COMVALEŅOS to participate and show their talents in the field of sports.
