Mayor joins welcome for Army's 71st Battalion
Davao City (25 May) -- Last May 23 at Hijo Port Town in Barangay Madaum of Tagum, Mayor Rey T. Uy of Tagum City joined his brother Governor Arturo T. Uy of Compostela Valley Province in welcoming the troops of the Armed Forces of the Philippines' 71st Infantry Battalion under the 71st Division of Philippine Army.
Keynote Speaker Major General Carlos Holganza, commended specifically the soldiers for their heroic act in following the mandate of the constitution. "Let us be soldiers who build communities and not wars. Let armaments not our armors but charity. Let us instead build communities and give hope to our countrymen," he says.
The additional Army Battalion will establish its bases within the perimeter of Compostela Valley Province. "The presence of additional armies will strengthen the security of our province. Their presence will never be a threat as it will add more confidence in our constituents," says Governor Uy as he put more emphasis on the wholesome image of the modern armies who did well in community services within the province of Compostela Valley.
