Bacolod City gets ready for La Niņa
Bacolod City (25 May) -- The city government is now ready for La Niņa phenomenon that will hit the city.
Bacolod City Councilor Roberto Rojas, chair of the city council committee on floods and mitigation said that they have already constructed several drainage systems, especially those areas that are flood-prone during the rainy season.
Rojas said the city government is also planning to clear the residents living near the danger zone such as in seashores, creeks or rivers.
He emphasized that providing relocation sites for the affected families living in the danger zones is one of the priority projects of the present administration.
He added that they are the affected residents during the rainy season, and that they need to be relocated for the safety of their families.
According to the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) the rainy season will possibly hit in the month of July. (PIO/PIA/cad) [top]
