Access road eyed to benefit NVizcaya upland vegetable, citrus farmers

Cauayan City, Isabela (27 May) -- Thousands of upland farmers and residents mostly vegetables and citrus growers in a remote and upland barangay of Nueva Vizcaya will benefit to the newly inaugurated concreted and asphalted roads linking to the urban areas and vegetable drop-off points in that opne province of region 2.
In an inaugural rites led by no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo held at the remote barangay of Belance, Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya, the 13.194 kilometers concreted and asphalted road from that town's central government will ease farmers in bringing down their products at the province's agricultural trading center in Bambang town.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Victor Domingo who is with President Arroyo said that the newly concreted and asphalted junction national road-Bitnong-Belance Nueva Vizcaya road will surely spur economic development in Dupax and other influence areas with the opening of new opportunities such as retail and commercial services, transport and job generation.
Secretary Domingo said the newly-inaugurated all-weather road will also be an inter-regional link between region 2 and region 3 particularly Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino provinces in region 2 and Aurora province of region 3 that will strengthen trade and industry the commercial centers in these areas.
Region 2 Regional Development Council (RDC-2) Chairman and Nueva Vizcaya-Quirino Bishop Ramon B. Villena has expressed deep gratitude to Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the precious gift for Novo Vizcayanos particularly the residents of Dupax del Norte whom the bishop considered a notable legacy project of President Arroyo for Novo Vizcayanos during her nine-year presidency.
The project was started last November 2008 and was finished last April 30, 2010 with a total project cost of P330 million funded under the General Appropriation Act-Regular Infrastructure Program.
The project has a net length of 13.194 kilometers and was implemented by DPWH 1st Engineering District of Nueva Vizcaya. (PIA Isabela) [top]
