Brigada Eskwela brings unity in every community, says Rep Garcia
Davao City (29 May) -- Brigada Escuela, a clean-up campaign in every school in preparation for the opening of classes this June, brings unity not only in school campuses, but in every community, said Congresswoman-elect Mylene Garcia (District 2) as she urged every sector to get involved in this activity.
In Cabantian National High School, for instance, various groups from the religious sector, women, business sector and members from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, have joined the clean-up and repair activities, said Cabantian NHS Principal Nelma Lyn R. Barnija.
"Our yearly Brigada Eskwela is being implemented as per instruction of our DepED XI Director Susana Teresa Estigoy and our Davao City Schools Division Supt. Helen Paguican," Barnija said.
According to Barnija, the Cabantian NHS won last year the second place award under the Big School Category.
Cabantian NHS is only one of the many schools in the second district which was given attention by (outgoing) Congressman Vincent Garcia.
"Congressman Garcia has poured in some Php8million investment for the rehabilitation, expansion and construction of new facilities for the school," Barnija said.
Under Congressman Garcia's program, establishments of additional classroom were on the pipeline to address the lack of school facilities due to the continuous increase of enrollees, she said.
Barnija cited Garcia's strict project implementation as he used to personally inspect its construction. "In Cabantian NHS alone, kahit maliit na bagay tulad ng di tamang pagkabit ng bombilya (even in small things like improper installation of fluorescent bulbs), he will call up the project engineer to immediately correct it," Barnija said.
"I'm sure Sir Vincent's sister (newly-elected Congresswoman Mylene Garcia) will likewise support the development of our school as the Garcia family has been very supportive of the needs of the young students," she further said.
Barnija also expressed her gratitude to all those who have extended their services in making Brigada Eskwela a success and in providing Cabantian NHS at its best atmosphere for its students.
Congresswoman?elect Mylene Garcia has committed to continue all ongoing projects of her brother, Congressman Vincent.
The community and barangay leaders of second district hope to meet and discuss with the newly elected lady House Representative regarding various projects to further serve the constituents and enhance the development of the district.
