Hingyon, Ifugao (29 May) -- The police force here said Christian values transformed this small town into a peaceful village which contributed much to a peaceful and orderly conduct of elections.
With the various religious sects mushrooming all over the place, the people here have obviously changed their bad ways into good ones which helped a lot in the peace and order situation here, said Chief of Police, Inspector Arthur Bentican.
Hingyon was once known to be a beehive of highway robbery. But in the past three years, not a single robbery was committed in the area. The town was said to be the "land of the brave". With the presence of the different religious sects, Mayor Ramon Tinawi here changed that old joke into "the land of the Christians".
Bentican, who is from Kalinga, said that with his one year stay in this municipality as COP, he regularly visited the different barangays and communicate with the people which brought back the thrust and confidence of the community to the men in uniform.
'We also conduct moral recovery program not only to the men in uniform but we also involved other sectors. The pastors were the speakers during the said seminars which enlightened the participants of the presence and importance of the Divine Supreme,' Bentican said. (PIA Ifugao) [top]
