DOH-CAR prepares for rainy season

Baguio City (29 May) -- The Department of Health is preparing for diseases as rainy season is here.
Center for Health Development Regional Director, Dr. Myrna Cabotaje said that their agency is now gearing up for the upcoming rainy days and the school opening this June.
Cabotaje disclosed that they are still monitoring cases of dengue and as of now, there are no new cases and deaths reported in the region.
The DOH is also on alert for AH1N1 as the rainy season starts. It could be recalled that cases of AH1N1 increased with the start of the rainy season last year,.
The rainy season also will be causing more diseases such as cough, colds and flu especially to children who will start going to school soon.
Cabotaje said that they have coordinated with the Department of Education on the information campaign for students, parents and teachers on the prevention of dengue, AH1N1 and other rainy day diseases.
When classes starts, the DOH will conduct information and education campaign on schools on the prevention of these diseases.
As a way of preventing diseases, Cabotaje reminds all to wash their hands always. Cough etiquette is needed, cover your mouth when coughing. And if students are feeling sick, they are advised to stay home, medicate and rest. (PIA)[top]
