GTZ assists Southern Leyte development plan formulation
Southern Leyte (May 29) -- Representatives from the different local government units and national line agencies poured out together their best efforts for the formulation of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) of Southern Leyte from April 19-22 this year at Villa Romana, Sogod, in a report sent PIA Maasin through GTZEnRD Intern Hanna Abad.
Abad reported that among the salient discussions were focused on the situational analysis in order to examine the current situation of the province population and settlement, economy, infrastructure, physical resources, income and social services.
During the workshop, the formulation of the draft of the 5-year strategic plan from 2010 until 2015 was a major output of the four-day workshop which will serve as the basis for the provincial investment programming, budgeting and implementation of the province.
The PDPFP also linked with the provincial development objectives and in connection with the regional and national policies and priorities, Abad added.
The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Planning and Development Office in close coordination with the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) Environment and Rural Development (EnRD) program. While NEDA 8 and the Asian Development Bank provided for the guidelines and procedures for the PDPFP formulation, Abad said.
That the four-day workshop was successfully culminated with agreed activities for the next steps which will include the completion of all the needed maps and finalization of the write up of the PDPFP which is targerted by the end of May 2010. (PIA Southern Leyte/esg/GTZEnRD/Hanna Abad) [top]
