OWWA Caraga to pay tribute to Filipino migrant workers

Butuan City (31 May) -- To pay tribute to the courage, patriotism, struggles, and economic contributions of migrant workers in many parts of the globe, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ? Regional Welfare Office Caraga, in partnership with the OFW Family Circles (OFCs) in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands will spearhead the conduct of this year's "Migrant Workers Day ? Araw ng Pasasalamat" on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Surigao del Norte Provincial Gymnasium, Surigao City.
In a written statement, Dr. Marieta A. Lumawag, OWWA-Caraga OIC-Regional Director said the whole day event is expected to cater 3,000 participants not only from Surigao del Norte but as well as in all the provinces of Caraga Region.
Among the highlights of the activity include a motorcade, livelihood trade fair, medical-dental mission, jobs fair which focuses overseas employment, cultural presentation, awarding of outstanding OFCs/Organizations where Globe Communications is set to give cash awards, a raffle draw dubbed as "OWWA Wheel of Fortune", and Papremyo ng cellphones from Globe.
Prior to this activity, a press conference is scheduled on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Tavern Hotel in Surigao City.
This year's celebration is anchored on the theme: "OFWs: Tagumpay sa Hamon ng Panahon, Kaagapay sa Pagsulong." (PIA-Caraga) [top]
