DTI, Iloilo retailers launch Balik Eskwela Diskwento

Iloilo City (1 June) -- A program aimed at ensuring that basic school supplies are available at affordable prices and of good quality has been launched here.

It is a joint program by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Iloilo chapter of the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) starting June 1 to 30.

DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Wilhelm Malones said the Balik Eskwela Diskwento is a show of commitment of the agency and the PRA to respond to the right of every consumer to get best value for his hard-earned money.

Francis Chung of New Island Bazaar, PRA-Iloilo President said the 26-strong members have committed to reduce prices of school supplies by 5-10 percent compared to other stores.

Malones said with the agreement DTI has forged with the PRA-Iloilo, consumers can look forward to similar continuous activities where commodities are sold at affordable prices and in good quality.

PRA-Iloilo member stores that have signified commitment include Iloilo Society Commercial branches, Gaisano, New Island Bazaar, Iloilo Supermart branches, Washington commercial, LEDI Supermart, New Master Bazaar, Shanghai Bazaar, Marketplace, Otani Bazaar, Allan Commercial, IZEEM Commercial, Fortune Bazaar, Nina Commercial, Elsan?s Diamond Shopping Center and Rojas Mini Mart.
