Tagalog News: 14 pang gun violators arestado

Manila (1 June) -- Labing-apat (14) katao ang pinakahuling inaresto ng kapulisan sa pagpapatuloy ng checkpoint operations sa buong bansa kaugnay ng pagpapatupad ng total gun ban ng Commission on Election (Comelec).

Ayon kay Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina ang mga pinakahulina inaresto ay pawang mga sibilyan na nahulihang mayroon bitbit ang mahigit sampung (10) low-powered at high-powered firearms sa mga actual na inspection sa ibat-ibang checkpoints sa buong bansa.

Ini-ulat din ni Espina na ang mga pinag-isang elemento ng mga pulis at military ay nakapag-confiscate din ng dalawang (2) explosibo at tatlong (3) bladed weapons sa mga violators.

Ang election gun ban ay nakatakdang magtapos sa darating na Hunyo a-9. Subalit dumarami ang humuhiling para sa pagpapalawig pa nito sa kabila ng pagdeklara ng PNP at ng AFP na ang halalan noong Mayo a-10 ang naing pinaka-maayos at mapayapa sa loob ng maraming taon, dahil umano sa pagpapatupad ng total gun ban.

Ipinangako naman ni PNP chief Director-General Jesus Versoza na ikukunsidera ang mga proposal sa darating na firearms summit. (ac agad PIA12) [top]
