DepEd instructs schools to display RP flag until June 12

Manila (2 June) -- Department of Education Secretary Mona Valisno has directed all schools nationwide to display the Philippine Flag from May 28 to June 12, 2010.
In Memorandum Order No. 210, the directive is in line with this year?s celebration of the 112th anniversary of Philippine Independence.
DepEd has been directed to lead in this year?s Flag Day programs.
Valisno disclosed that they have recently completed this year?s first batch of seminar workshops on the Flag and Heraldic Code which was participated in by private school administrators, teachers and students.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has earlier signed Administrative Order No. 284 directing the NHI to lead in implementing activities in observance of the Indepence Day on June 12.
This year?s theme is "KALAYAAN: Tagumpay ng Bayan."
NHI Executive Director Ludovico Badoy during the first meeting of the technical working group said the celebration of the Flag Day or Pambansang Araw ng Watawat on May 28 commenced this year?s Independence Day.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Austere Panadero likewise issued Memo Circular No. 35 enjoining all local government units to conduct simple but meaningful activities such as Flag Raising ceremonies, wreath laying rites in honor of national and local heroes with a display of the National Flag in government buildings, major thoroughfares as well as in public parks, hospitals, restaurants, department stores, malls and banks starting May 28 until June 12.
