3 HS coeds to receive awards from DepEd

Santiago City, Isabela (June 2) -- Two student-leaders from this city and one from Cagayan province are set to receive an award in Manila particularly from the Department of Education (DepEd) an award for their outstanding performance in leading their fellow students in the different levels of learning and other areas of school's development and in the community.

Marco Mendoza of Rizal National High School and Roger Colobong of La Sallete High School and one from Cagayan province were chosen by the Department of Education to represent region 2 in the "Gawad Ulirang Kabataaan" search and will also serve as the finalist in the said national search.

The three will be receiving award on June 12, 2010 in Manila.

Dr. Benjamin Paragas, Santiago City Schools Division Superintendent, said that DepEd Santiago City is very glad that there were two of their students in the secondary level who have been chosen as finalist in the "Gawad Ulirang Kabataan" search.

He said of all the schools in region 2, one of their students from Rizal National High School and one from La Sallete High Scholl were selected to represent the region and that goes to show that the level of learning and leadership potentials among students in the city has gone high.

The city's DepEd chief said that with the help of the city government of Santiago in enhancing its support to education sector, more awards and citations is expected to be reaped by the DepEd Division.

The city government, through the leadership of Mayor Amelita S Navarro, has allocated huge amount of the city government fund for education and shouldered all the expenses of elementary, high school pupils and students and even extended assistance to college students. (PIA Isabela) [top]
