RDC-2 eyes website for project monitoring

by Oliver T. Baccay

Tuguegarao City (2 June) -- To generate alert reports to monitor government projects, the Regional Development Council (RDC) is set to create a website to promote closer coordination of project implementation, monitoring and evaluation at the regional and local level.

Ms. Ma. Lourdes Corsino of NEDA said the website will enhance the functional viability of the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) as an institutionalized mechanism to advance project implementation and completion.

"Project monitoring is one of the major functional roles of NEDA but the regional project monitoring committee has noted a dearth in the expected inputs from the local levels, particularly alerts reports. Because of this, we explore other creative avenues to enhance the functional viability of RPMES", Corsino said.

The alert reports in the past, she said, have served as the source of information on significant projects needing assistance to resolve major implementation bottlenecks.

She also stated that the effort is likewise expected to create awareness about the RPMC and develop vigilance among stakeholders to ensure the proper implementation of government projects.

She further informed that, aside from alert reports, the website will also highlight RPMES report on a quarterly basis and serves as a source of useful information for the local chief executives, congressmen and other stakeholders. (PIA 2) [top]
