2 Ifugao schools win nat'l brigada eskwela awards

Lamut, Ifugao (4 June) -- An elementary school and a high school here bagged national awards in the search for the best implementer of the Brigada Eskwela for school year 2009-2010.
For their successful implementation of the Department of Education's Brigada Eskwela, these national awardees are the Nayon Elementary School located in Barangay Nayon and the Hapid National High School in barangay Hapid.
Conrado Buccat, Principal of Hapid National High School (HNHS) said that the participation of stakeholders contributed a lot to the success of the Brigada Eskwela. The stakeholders donated materials such as cement, steel bars and hallow blocks for the construction of the school fence and concrete tables which amounted to P50,000.00.
The stakeholders composed of parents, women's organization, barangay council, the Local government Unit, the police and the Hapid United Family Association also repaired school facilities such as ceiling of classrooms and constructed concrete study tables inside the school campus.
Buccat and Nayon Elementary School principal, Juliet Apiit, are among the local and DEPED officials who will receive the awards in Manila. The exact date and venue for the said awarding is not yet disclosed by DEPED head office.
Part of school opening preparations is the Brigada Eskwela Plus (BEP) or the National Community Involvement in Education Initiative. It is a program that aims to tap the respective community to provide assistance towards the attainment of smooth and timely delivery of public education services year-round.
