PDEA-2 arrests lady drug pusher

Tuguegarao City (4 June) -- The joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 2, Police Regional Office 2 and Santiago Police Station have successfully arrested a suspected lady drug pusher in a buy bust operation conducted at Santiago City, Isabela.

PDEA Information Officer Ernesto Lacerna said the team arrested the suspect known as Ana Marie de Dios y Vergel, also known as "An-An, 36 year old, widow, charcoal vendor, elementary graduate and a resident of Barangay Mabini, Santiago City, Isabela.

Lacerna said the team, spearheaded by Special Investigator II Armenio Gaudia with the supervision of PDEA Regional Director Primitivo C. Bayongan, Jr., caught the suspect in the act of selling illegal drugs to an agent of PDEA.

Recovered from her are 2 pieces heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a suspected Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or known as "Shabu" and 2 pieces mark money which were used in the conduct of the operation.

Lacerna said Ana Marie is also a suspected member of the Jhonny De Leon Drug Group operating in Santiago City.

PDEA immediately filed a case against the suspect for violation of the Section 5 of Article II of the Republic Act 9165, while the confiscated suspected illegal drugs were brought to Santiago City Crime Laboratory for a chemical analysis.

"The series of successful operation of PDEA and PNP against illegal drugs is in pursuit of our'Campaign Plan Bandila' to save the people who might victims of drug addiction, specially so that the schools are going to open again this month", Lacerna said. (PIA 2) [top]
