Kalibo, Aklan (4 June) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) here will be making Aklan pupils' s first day in school more memorable, inspiring and safe through clean classrooms and police visibility on June 15 throughout the province' 17 towns and in Boracay Island.

The clean-up of school premises and classrooms provincewide was directed by the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) through Sr. Police Supt. Epifanio Bragais, Jr., PNP-Aklan Provincial Director.

The clean-up will be done by PNP elements in their respective areas or municipalities during their Athletic Days on June 8 and June 10.

For its part, the APPO will be rendering clean-up drives on June 8 in New Buswang Elementary School and in Kalibo Pilot Elementary School on June 10.

In Kalibo, the APPO will take a step further to make pupils neater on their first day in school by offering free haircuts to male school children residing in C. Laserna Street on June 11, according to Police Inspector Belshazzar Villanoche, Police Community Relations (PCR) chief of APPO. C. Laserna is a thickly-populated area in Kalibo.

"After the free haircut, the boys will also be treated to a simple merienda," Inspector Villanoche said. The APPO will be hiring barbers for the activity.

Inspector Villanoche also said that during the first week of the school opening, PNP personnel will lead in the flag raising ceremonies in schools.

After the flag-raising, the PNP will conduct a 10-minute talk on Crime Prevention before pupils and teachers.

Police stations will also put up assistance desks at vantage areas near schools in the opening day. (PIA) [top]
