PIA Press Release

DTI offers "Back-to-School Diskwento Bonanza"

Pagadian City (4 June) -- To help ease the burden of high and rising prices of basic commodities especially in the coming school opening, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in coordination with the consumers groups, the local government units and the ZDS-Pagadian City Chamber of Commerce and Industry will launch the "Back To School Diskwento Bonanza ? Handog ng DTI," on June 10-12, 2010.

This event was conceptualized in response to the call of Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to make basic commodities directly accessible to consumers through the conduct of "Diskwento Fair." Participating producers, manufacturers and companies will sold their goods and products directly to the consumers.

The three-day Diskwento Fair will be held simultaneously in the towns of Margosatubig, Dumalinao, Tukuran, Aurora, Molave, Dumingag all of Zamboanga del Sur and Pagadian City.

In order to ensure the success of the affair some mechanics are set to be followed, such as, the store owner-participant shall be responsible in ascertaining the Diskwento Prices of his/her goods, which is by a certain percentage lower than his/her latest prices. The rules of the Price Tag Law and such other consumer related laws must be adequately complied.

The consumer group shall assist the implementing agencies in the invitation of participants, assist in the monitoring of FTLs compliance and help in generating the daily sales report.

The participating local government units shall assist in supervising the affair, provide peace officer if needed and support in generating participants. While the ZDS-Pagadian City Chamber of Commerce and Industry is responsible in generating participants from Pagadian City and assist in ensuring compliance of all FTLs by its member-participants.

DTI shall act as the over-all head of the affair and ensure the success of the event. (PIA) [top]
