RDCC-2 to conduct simultaneous earthquake drill

Tuguegarao City (9 June) -- The Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) Region 2 is set to conduct simultaneous Earthquake drill in the region on June 18.
P/Chief Supt. Benedict Michael B. Fokno, PNP-2 Regional Director and RDCC Chair, said the drill is part of the continuing implementation of the National Disaster Coordinating Council's (NDCC's) four point plan for action for disaster preparedness with the theme: "One Nation, One People, One Response".
Fokno said the drill shall be conducted simultaneously in all public and private schools, selected public-government buildings, private business/commercial establishments, public and private hospitals, and other establishments.
But for the region, Fokno stated that the exercise will be conducted at the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. office here.
"Our EQ drill shall showcase critical emergency response operations within the "Golden Hour" or the 1st 72 hours such as fire suppression, collapsed structure search and rescue, high angle rescue, helicopter hoist/rescue, mass casualty incident management, and evaluation", Fokno said.
The drill is expected to draw attention to the public to prepare for earthquake worst scenario. It is enjoined to be conducted with highly visible display of local responders, capabilities on earthquake disaster response. (PIA 2) [top]
