CENRO leads cleanup to commercial establishments, streets

Santiago City, Isabela (June 9) -- With the advisory from Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) that rainy season officially arrive in the country, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) led a cleanup operation in all its major commercial establishments and streets to prevent the drainages from clogging.
Dubbed by the CENRO as Linis-Bayan, city officials and employees joined the CENRO in its linis-bayan activity as part of the environment department in celebrating Environment Month.
CENRO Engineer Orlando Tesoro said the Linis-Bayan activity of the city is in support to the government's celebration of Environment Month being celebrated every month of June.
The linis-bayan will prevent the clogging of main canals particularly in the city's business districts and major city streets within the poblacion.
This will also an awareness campaign of the city to the public inorder that the residents would be encouraged to properly dispose their household wastes and not just litter anywhere to prevent floods especially that rainy season is now felt in the country.
Tesoro and local officials as well as the city employees showed a great responsibility to the city especially in maintaining the cleanliness in its surroundings.
This city, being the regional winner of "Zero Basura Olympics", wants to show that with or without the search their concern to the environment is their primary responsibility. (PIA Isabela) [top]
