Negros Occidental to host blood summit
Bacolod City (11 June) -- The province of Negros Occidental will host the 4th National Blood Summit, which coincides with the World Blood Donor?s Day on June 14, Monday, on the theme "New blood for the world".
Dr. Luisa Efren, PHO head, said the occasion caps almost a decade of earning yearly the Sandugo Award for Chief executives of the Department of Health, an accomplishment of local government officials unsurpassed by other provinces.
DOH secretary Esperanza Cabral will be the guest speaker during the kick off celebration at the Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City.
Neg. Occ. Gov. Isidro Zayco will welcome the participants, followed by a presentation number from the Magayon Festival dancers from the town of Moises Padilla, and opening remarks from assistant secretary Dr. Nemesio Gako of the DOH Sectoral Management Coordination Team.
Secretary-general Gwendolyn Pang of the Philippine National Red Cross and Sixto Arlegui III will also give their messages. (PHO/PIA/cad) [top]
