Simple rites to mark 112th Independence Day celebration in Antique
San Jose, Antique (11 June) -- The Province of Antique will commemorate the 112th anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence in simple rites at the EBJ Freedom Park on June 14, 2010.
The Antique Provincial Historical and Cultural Council (APHCC) who takes the lead in the preparation has announced that a Eucharistic Celebration at the lobby of the New Capitol Building will start the day with its Chairman, Fr. Fortunato M. Abiera, as main celebrant.
A flag raising follows the mass to be managed by the Philippine Army and assisted by the Philippine National Police and ROTC cadets and Senior Scouts. And then followed by wreath-laying at the statue of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
A short commemorative program has also been lined-up wherein the Hiraya Theater Company, a locally formed theater group will present a play on the history and significance of Independence Day. Nationalistic Songs like "Bayan Ko" will also be sang by the same group. Outgoing Governor Salvacion Z. Perez will also deliver her message.
The 112th Independence Day with the theme "Kalayaan: Tagumpay nga Bayan" is a celebration of our freedom, our lives, how we live now and the difference we?ve made for our province, our country.
A song "Malaya ka na Pilipino" by Dante Beriong which won for him the 1998 Grand prize Winner Centennial Theme song will cap the program.
Employees of the provincial and national offices are enjoined to attend the celebration through simple but very meaningful for us all Filipinos. (PIA) [top]
