BFP Isabela reiterates fire safety to schools, business establishments

by MG Edale Jr

Ilagan, Isabela (June 11) -- Few days before the start of classes in public schools, the Bureau of Fire Protection - Isabela has reiterated to public school management and business establishment owners the value of being safe from fire incidence.

Provincial Fire Marshall Rogelio Parallag said it is very necessary to consider the fire safety of the public especially now that public school facilities and boarding houses are again nearly be utilized by pupils and students.

"We encouraged school administrators as well as those boarding house owners to ensure that the necessary fire safety standards to the buildings be properly observed", Parallag said.

Parallag suggested each Local Government Units (LGUs) to follow the Fire Safety Code particularly in erecting buildings for public and commercial use in their respective areas.

He said LGUs should require the building applicants to secure first a Fire Safety Evaluation Clearance from the BFP Office before the LGUs will issue building permits.

Provincial Fire Marshall Parralag however, admitted that some LGUs are already implementing such policy but in some LGUs where there are no established Fire Station and no Fire personnel assigned in the area should secure the Fire Safety Evaluation Clearance from the Provincial Fire Marshall Office.

He said applicants shall bring with them the electrical plans of the proposed building and a minimal fee for clearance issuance will be paid.

Parallag encouraged LGUs to cooperate for a fire safe locality to avoid fire tragedies that even during rainy season fire may broke if it is not properly given preferential attention especially to public infra-structures and commercial buildings. (PIA Isabela) [top]
