by Oliver T. Baccay

Tuguegarao City (June 11) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 2 is set to spearhead the launching of the Cagayan Valley Occupational Safety and Health (CV-OSH) Network on July 20, 2010 at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Office, Conference Hall, together with the media.

The CV-OSH network is composed of government and private establishments, workers, corporations and other stakeholders who will spearhead the promotion of zero-accident in workplaces.

Zero Accident Program is one of the flagship programs of DOLE which aims to create and increase awareness of OSH practitioners, employers and the working population on work safety and health.

The launching aims to drumbeat the mission, goal and objectives of the network and to create awareness and appreciation from the public, especially those who are working in hazard vulnerable zones and workplaces.

The members of the network have also elected their officers. The representative of Petron Philippines Corp., Mr. Jun Timario, was elected as the network President, Ms. Hilda Hipolito of the Nurse's Association as the Vice-President, Ms. Sheryl Galas of Coca-Cola Bottlers Phil. Inc. as Secretary, Ms. Acosta of CESA as Treasurer and Mr. Oliver T. Baccay of the Philippine Information Agency as Press Relation Officer. The officials from the Department of Labor and Employment Region 2 will also serve as advisers.

The elected officials have also planned for their activities to be conducted this year which includes awareness and appreciation forum for the members of the network on August 2010. The group also plans to conduct trainings for all stakeholders to meet the standard of occupational safety and health. (PIA 2) [top]
