Santiago City, Isabela (June 11) -- In its desire to create more jobs and produce products that this province will be known for as well strengthen the economic activity, the Department of Industry (DTI) Isabela would like to attract known investors to develop the existing products of Isabela not only corn and rice.
Trade and Industry Officer Efren dela Cruz made the call when products in the localities of the province's 4th district are already in place and that it only needs mass production of tilapia and sugarcane that will suit the requirement of a big company to come in to operate in the area.
He cited the experience of General Santos City where it was a "Tuna Capital" in the country where a big company put up its business in processing the said product.
"Like General Santos, Isabela shall also be known not only as top producer of corn and rice but also a tilapia and ethanol producer in the future", dela Cruz said.
The DTI official urged the support of local officials to realize the proposal as it will help each LGUs in job generation and will strengthen the economy of the province.
The city of Santiago is now initially producing sugarcane and in the town of Ramon and other municipalities are producing tons of tilapia. (PIA Isabela) [top]
