Tagum mayor inspires new mayors of Mindanao
Tagum City (17 June) -- Known for his iron political will, revenue generating economic enterprises, and prudent fiscal management, Mayor Rey T. Uy of Tagum City shared his ideas and insights on the Best Practices of Tagum as he inspired and motivated the 35 newly-minted mayors of Regions XI, XII, XIII to embrace and espouse the principles of participatory governance.
Mayor Uy has been invited by the Local Government Academy (LGA) of the Department of the Interior of Local Government (DILG) during the orientation for the first batch of newly elected officials in the region on June 15 at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City.
2010 Newly-Elected Officials (NEO), especially the Local Chief Executives, have been convened by LGA to strengthen the individual and institutional capacities of the Local Government Units and improve the delivery of basic services in their respective localities.
"Being one of the highly-successful mayors in the field of local governance, the sharing of your experiences, strategies, and techniques on Best Practices of your LGU on mobilizing resources will help build a successful transition of our newly elected officials," says LGA Executive Director Sacendoncillo.
With all amazement and appreciation by the participants with regard to the comprehensive input of Mayor Rey Uy, the Local Chief Executive of Tagum humbly gave his fatherly advice, "those who have less in life should have more in government services," he says.
Mayor Uy shall be again the resource speaker during the orientation for the second batch of the newly elected officials from Regions IX and X on June 18 at the Apo View Hotel. (CROMWELL-CIO Tagum) [top]
