Capiz PNP puts up 'help desks' to prevent crimes

Roxas City (17 June) -- Police visibility has been stepped up by the Capiz Police Provincial Office in line with the opening of classes this month.

Police Officer3 Donna Asmod of the Capiz PPO said that an intensified police visibility near the different schools in Capiz, is one of their measures undertaken this school opening.

Asmod said that they have also established police assistance desks in the various schools in the province, particularly in Roxas City to provide students and the public access to PNP men.

In addition, they have also stepped up their police visibility like in malls, Baybay beach, night spots and other commonly visited areas in the city here.

According to her, Police Provincial Director Josephus Angan had already made in place the conduct of symposia on crime prevention, especially on the use of illegal drugs, joining in fraternity and anti-hazing law as well as the different modus operandi.

She added that Angan had also warned the public, particularly the students, to be vigilant against pick pocketing and theft especially of motorcycle.

Asmod said that when classes are already in place in the different schools, they the PNP here through its Police Community Relations office will conduct anti-drug campaign in the different schools throughout the province, including those in the far flung areas.

Earlier, Police Director General Jesus Verzosa disclosed that the PNP is committed to ensure public safety and reducing the fear and the incidence of crime in the community.

Verzosa, however, urges the public to have a shared responsibility to prevent in becoming a victim and in the happening of a crime. (PIA) [top]
