Tagalog News: CHED isinusulong ang karagdagang scholarships at assistance para sa mga mahihirap na estudyante

Manila (18 June) -- Isinusulong ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) ang pagpapatuloy ng government scholarship and assistance programs sa sampung porsyento ng populasyon ng mag-aaaral sa kolehiyo sa buong kapuluan.

Muli rin nanawagan si CHED Executive Director Julito Vitriolo para sa karagdagang pondo na ilalaan sa college education sector.

Aniya, nakapaggasata na si Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ng humigit-kumulang pitong bilyong piso para sa mga nasabing programa na nakapagbenepisyo sa humigit-kumulang anim na raan limampung libong mga mahihirap at karapatdapat na mga estudyante mula noong taong 2001.

Humigit-kumulang P1.2 billion ng nasabing pondo ay ginamit sa mga training programs para sa pag-upgrade ng mga kakayahan ng halos apat na libong guro samantalang humigit-kumulang P2.5 billion naman ang inilaan para sa mga laboratoryo, silid-aklatan at iba pang instructional facilities ng pamahalaan lalo na sa mga private partner learning institutions.

Ani Vitriolo, mayroong ng pitumpu't dalawang centers of exellanec at isang daan dalawampu't dalawang centers of development ang natukoy sa higher education profile ng bansa na maihahambing sa mga quality learning institutions sa ilang karatig bansa sa ASEAN. (BDEnestois/PIA12) [top]
