Consumer network to focus on FEWW
Davao City (18 June) -- Food, Energy, Water and Waste (FEWW). These are the areas a consumer group in Davao will focus on in its advocacy work for the rest of the year.
In its general assembly held recently, Cesar Ledesma, chair of the Consumer Action for a Sustainable and Healthy Lifestyle (CASH L) Network, Incorporated rallied among its members the adaptation of activities geared toward addressing problems related to FEWW.
"The advocacy of CASH L seeks to address the adverse effects of global warming that has changed weather patterns, thus, reducing the supply of hydropower, water and food. There is also the more damaging methane gas from improperly disposed waste," Ledesma explained.
He added that there must be a massive change of consumer lifestyle that will reduce the amount of greenhouse gases spewed into the air by unsustainable consumption and waste handling.
The general assembly also elected the board of trustees who will steer the consumer organizations operations for a year. Elected were: Zenaida Silva, Tony Boquiren, Cesar Ledesma, Dodie Canete, Rody Regodon, Nonoy Cabazares, Betty More, Arsenio Caballero, Raffy Salomon, Vikki Horfilla, Percy Basil Prosianos, Chona Ladroma, Beng Ongkiko, Ernie Paspe, and Robert Barlis, Department of Trade and Industry-Davao City Field Office (DTI-DCFO) chief on Consumer Welfare and Trade Regulation.
