Activities set for Negros Occidental Environment Week
Negros Occidental (18 June) -- Activities are all lined up for the celebration of the 18th Provincial Environment Week from June 21-26, this province.
The celebration with the theme "Biodiversity: Our Life" is spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office with its partner agencies in the province.
A mass on the opening day will commence the week-long celebration followed by the opening ceremonies in the morning of June 21. A forum on the Effects of Climate Change on Fisheries is organized by the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources at the LCC-Bacolod Little Theatre in the afternoon of the opening day.
Other environmental initiatives include the tree planting-growing activity in the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto. Coastal Clean Up and Mangrove Planting in the coastal barangay of Pta. Taytay and simultaneous Barangay Clean Up all over Bacolod City and the Provincial Capitol Lagoon will be held during the week.

Members of the Center for Environmental Initiatives are set to meet on June 23 to hear on the topic on Biodiversity Conservation by Dr. Stefan Groenewold from the German Development Services (DED). Other members will present their papers on various researches during the meeting.
PEMO also initiated other activities like the Slogan Contest, Kiddie Coloring Contest, Poster Making Contest, Essay Writing Contest and Photo Exhibits, all will be held at the Gaisano City Mall on June 23.
