Kiangan, Ifugao (19 June) -- The elders here play a big role in keeping peace and order in this historic town.
PINSP Marcelo Ebil, Officer In Charge of the Kiangan Police Station, said trouble makers still respect senior citizens. "It has been observed that trouble makers here will listen to our elders when they pacify them," he said.
Ebil said that most crimes here in the past were attributed to drunkenness and the presence of videoke bars. He added that common acts persons under the influence of liquor are shouting and creating disturbances especially during the night.
Ebil disclosed that the town is generally peaceful with no crimes committed in the past months. He attributed this to the active participation of the barangay tanods, the elders and officials.
Meanwhile, with the opening of classes on June 15, policemen here were deployed in the roads near the school to ensure the safety of the pupils. Ebil added that they helped in cleaning the school campus during the implementation of the Brigada Eskwela of the DepEd. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
