ICRC gives assistance to Ifugao town

Alfonso Lista, Ifugao (19 June) -- Farmers affected of the dry spell here were given food and farm inputs aid from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) recently.
Marcela Cortez, Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Focal Person, said that a total of 5,376 households have received food and farm inputs assistance from the IRC through its focal person Ramon Catacutan.
"Each household received 25 kilos of rice, three bottles bagoong, six liters cooking oil and two bars laundry soap as additional assistance," Cortez said.
Alfonso Lista is the first municipality in the province declared under the state of calamity due to the effect of the dry spell.
Cortez also disclosed that aside from the food assistance, farm inputs were also given to the farmers ready for the planting season.
"A total of 1,816 households also received 18 kilograms corn seeds, six bags of 16-20-0 and bags 46-0-0 fertilizer," Cortez added.
She explained that prior to the distribution of the assistance, the ICRC has conducted monitoring and assessment on the effects of El Nino in Alfonso Lista as their basis in giving the aforementioned help. (PIA Ifugao) [top]
