Ilagan, Isabela (June 21) -- The Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) prepared a disaster mitigating plan for the upcoming observance of Disaster Consciousness Month which is set next month.
Deputized Provincial Disaster Management Officer Atty. Maximo Navarro said the meeting aims to raise the level of "Zero Casualty" in times of disasters which usually occurs in the second quarter of the year like typhoons and flashfloods.
Among the activities the PDCC has lined up are the following:
- June 30 - hanging of streamers in all government institutions
- July 2 - re-orientation of Barangay Disaster Coordinating Committee
- July 6 - Motorcade and Tree Planting Activity
- July 9 - Attend NDCC meeting
- July 16 - Blood Letting
- July 23 - Building Inspections
- July 26-30 ? participate NRDC coordination meeting in Albay
An early meeting of the PDCC was called to avoid future damages on life and properties most likely to the identified by the PDCC as flood-prone areas.
Last year, the PDCC has registered "no casualty" since the province has prepared the possible bad effects brought by natural disasters.
The PDCC last year has set up its trained quick response team compose of military and police personnel including social welfare personnel for immediate rescue, relief, and rehabilitation in areas that needs immediate help and restoration.
Navarro is confident that with the early reactivation of the PDCC members and teams in the province and early readiness, there would be no victims to be registered when disasters strike. # m g edale, jr. (PIA ? Isabela) [top]
