NFA-2 assures enough rice supply for Cagayan Valley

Santiago City, Isabela (June 21) -- Cagayan Valley's National Food Authority (NFA2) based in this city assured that there are enough supply of rice for consumption for the duration of three months in the region.
NFA Regional Manager Ruben Recide said there will be no shortage of rice supply in the region as the NFA has enough stocks in its warehouses.
He said there are about 3.3 million bags that were stored in NFA warehouses in the region that can supply the needed consumption of the public for 94 days.
The assurance was made amid fears that there will be a shortage of rice supply due to low harvest last cropping season due to El Nino.
The NFA official said that the NFA is also continuously buying rice from farmers as their office is continuing its procurement program.
The buying price of NFA is P17.00 per kilo.
Manager Recide said they also continuously supplying rice outlets in all NFA accredited Bigasang Bayan stalls with a P25.00 per kilo in all outlets in the region.
The NFA is also continuously supplying the Tindahan Natin Outlets (TNO), a Department of Social Welfare and Development and National Food Authority (DSWD-NFA) subsidized program intended for poor families.
The TNO sells NFA rice at P18.25 per kilo for identified indigent families.
The NFA official said that NFA will continue to serve the public with utmost service providing enough supply of rice for consumption for Cagayan Valley residents and even to National Capital Region (NCR) since region 2 is the country's second rice producing province. (PIA Isabela) [top]
