BFP Sorsogon warns public not to block fire hydrants
Legazpi City (21 June) -- During the inspection of the fire hydrants last March 4, 2010 the Bureau of Fire Protection Sorsogon City found out that some of the hydrants were blocked by the vendors, tricycles, or garbages.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Sorsogon City Fire Marshal CInsp Renato Badong Marcial thus ordered his men to put up a warning sign informing the public not to block fire hydrants since it constitutes an offense violating RA 9514 or newly amended Fire Code of the Philippines.
Marcial gave the standing order last June 8, 2010 to Senior Inspector (SINSP) Prospero Deona, his Deputy and his personnel to implement said order. Immediately Sr. Insp. Deona coordinated with the traffic enforcers, PNP and the community through the megaphone to cooperate to the BFP with regards to this matter. BFP personnel then put up signages beside the fire hydrants particularly infront of Chowking, along Rizal St., infront of Southstar Drug along Magsaysay Street and hydrant near Sorsogon National High School.
Pursuant to Rule II: Section 220.127.116.11D of RA 9514 "Any person who caused an obstruction to a designated to the hydrants shall be penalized of a fine amounting to P12,500 up to P25,000.
