NEDA validates database tables
Iloilo City (27 June) -- The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) here conducted a workshop June 24 to validate with planning officers and database in-charge of government agencies and local government units in Western Visayas the initial table formats that will be used in the Regional Development Database System that will be established by the agency.
The table formats have been drafted by NEDA 6 for the four major sectors, namely Macro and Development Administration, Economic, Social, and Infrastructure.
During the activity, which is one of the initial steps in the establishment of the system, the participants also reached a consensus on the frequency of collection and submission of data to NEDA 6.
The database system will include socio-economic statistics, indicators, pictures of major programs and projects, and location and thematic maps that will be useful for planning, policy-making, proposal preparation, and monitoring.
These pieces of information will later be translated into a geo-reference database that will further enhance physical and socio-economic development planning at the regional and local levels.
NEDA 6 OIC Assistant Regional Director Nicholas B. Rivas, Jr. emphasized at the opening of the consultation-workshop that the activity is a major step in their efforts to establish a regional database and ascertain the subsequent phases to operationalize it.
The activity was spearheaded by the Knowledge Management Division headed by Estela Paredes together with the other technical divisions of NEDA6. (PIA 6) [top]
